How to create a subdomain
and add an A record.
To make your AI Page open at aipage.your-domain, add one A record in your DNS settings. An A record points a subdomain name to an IP address.
The record to add
| Type | Name (host) | Value (IPv4) | TTL |
|---|---|---|---|
A |
aipage |
34.116.143.243 |
300 |
Your account shows the same values. If it shows a different value, use that one. A TTL of 300 seconds is 5 minutes; if you are unsure, keep the default.
Four steps usually take a few minutes.
-
Sign in to your DNS panel
Open the control panel of your domain registrar or DNS provider — for example Cloudflare, GoDaddy, Namecheap or your hosting panel.
Find the “DNS”, “DNS Management” or “DNS records” section for the domain.
-
Add a new A record
Click “Add record” and fill in the fields:
- Type — A;
- Name / Host — just
aipage: most panels add your domain automatically, giving aipage.your-domain; - Value / IPv4 / Points to — the IP address from the table above;
- TTL — 300 or the default.
-
Save and wait
Save the record. DNS changes usually take effect within 5–30 minutes, but can sometimes take up to 24–48 hours to propagate.
-
Check the connection in Chetver
Go back to your account, open “Connection details” and click “Check connection”. Chetver checks that aipage on your domain points to the right IP address.
If the check fails, wait a few minutes and try again.
Notes for providers where people most often get stuck.
Cloudflare
Set the aipage record to “DNS only” (grey cloud). With the Cloudflare proxy on, the domain shows Cloudflare’s IP addresses and the Chetver check cannot see the right one.
Managing DNS records (opens on the provider’s website)GoDaddy
In the Name field enter just aipage — GoDaddy adds the domain itself.
Add an A record (opens on the provider’s website)Namecheap
Records are added on the Advanced DNS tab; in the Host field enter just aipage.

If another record for aipage already exists, for example a CNAME, delete it: one name cannot have a CNAME and an A record at the same time. Domains from Google Domains are now managed in Squarespace Domains — add the record in its DNS section.
